President Raisi: Iran eyes $30b trade volume with Turkiye

Tehran, IRNA – President Ebrahim Raisi has said that his administration aims to increase the volume of trade with Turkiye to $30 billion.

Raisi said on Wednesday at the Mehrabad Airport before flying to Turkiye that his trip to the northwestern neighbor will feature talks to boost bilateral relations, especially in economic and commercial sectors.

“This trip is being made at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in order to form a joint high-ranking delegation between Iran and Turkiye, and also, I will go to this country for negotiations on bilateral relations, especially in the economic and commercial sectors,” he told reporters.

Calling Turkiye an important trade partner for Iran, President Raisi added, “Our goal is to increase the volume of trade and economic relations between our country and Turkey to $30 billion, which can be achieved with the existing capacities of the two countries.”

He also pointed out that important documents will be signed during his trip which shows the two countries’ resolve to develop their trade and economic ties.

Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Raisi will be officially welcomed by Erdogan in Ankara later on Wednesday, after which the two presidents are slated to hold a private meeting.

Raisi and Erdogan will also co-chair the 8th meeting of the Iran-Turkiye high-level cooperation council and participate in a joint meeting of both countries’ tradesmen and economic actors.

Raisi: Ultimate victory belongs to Palestinians

Elsewhere in his remarks, Raisi highlighted the issue of Palestine as one of the most important issues facing the world, saying Iran and Turkiye have a common stance regarding the need to support the Palestinian people and their resistance.

Accordingly, he hastened to add, efforts have been made by the two countries to stop the Israeli regime’s relentless bombardment of Gaza.

“But unfortunately, due to the support of the Americans and Westerners for the Zionist regime, we are still witnessing women, children and innocent people being martyred.”

The Iranian chief executive, meanwhile, voiced confidence that ultimate victory belongs to the Palestinian people and destruction will be the fate of the Israeli regime.

“Cutting off the lifelines of the Zionist regime can be effective in stopping the crimes of this regime,” he asserted, echoing the Tuesday remarks of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
